The characteristics and fates of minimal and moderate Hypertension seen at a Medical Department of medium sized General Hospital

Abstract
We investigated the medical records of 1981 patients(male 922. Female 1059), who visited OPD of Daedong Hospital between January 1986 and December 1987.
@ES The results are as follows:
@EN 1. The incidence of minimal and moderate hypertension was 2.01% of outpatients: 1.51% in the male and 2.46% in the female. Among the medical patients who have undergone treatment principally at general hospital, the incidence of hypertension
was
very low.
2. In most patients with mild and moderate hypertension, diastolic pressure ranged 100-109mmHg(65.91%).
3. The peak incidence was seen in age group of 46-55 year in both sexes; 42.86% in the male and 50.00% in the female. The second peak was seen in age group of above 66 year in both sexes; 35.71% in the male and 23.06% in the female.
4. Many of patients(70.00%) have droped out within a month during treatment and only small percentage(7.50%) treated more than a year.
5. The percentage of patients recovered to normal blood pressure was 66.67%,with low salt, low fat diet, non smoking and drug medication of small dose of diuretics, beta bolckers and calcium antagonists for more than two months.
